    . I think the "self" is something intangible like the soul or spirit-- maybe it is the soul/spirit... Most of us probably don't consciously observe our souls very often, but it's there and is communicating with us somehow. So maybe it's old nature vs. nature debate. Part of us is some mysterious being that came from who-knows-where, and the majority of us is created by our environment and habits like you said.

    The AI you is a very incomplete attempt at a composite of something that could be mistaken for you or serve as an advanced representation of you. It is not you. The copy of you from the transporter is more complicated. If souls exist, and I don’t think they do, if it could move to the new host body with or without your memory flawlessly intact, it is you. If such a thing does not exist, but the body and memory are perfect, it is not really you. It is a copy of you. What makes you, you, is; if when the eyes close, you open them again. Otherwise, we are dealing with that creepy scene from The Prestige. You know the one.

  • @thetypingape2073
    @thetypingape2073 2 дня назад

    Do not pretend that you do not exist and that you do not have agency. This is the path of a lazy coward. This is the path of the complacent and the victim. You absolutely exist. You recreate yourself moment after moment, and your pursuit of that consistency is you. You are temporal and constantly trying to emerge as yourself. Understand your place in the universe. Do not run from it. Do not be in denial. Bargain. Accept. And become what you know is right. Be not afraid. - Be brave. You are part of this world whether you like it or not.

      Let me add (if you don’t mind: I like and appreciate your comment) Even if you think nothing matters, try to behave as if things actually do matter. Use a kind voice and say thank you to your in-home “Alexa” type device. Be nice to strangers and people you’re unlikely to encounter a second time. Water a plant, save a bumble-bee. Even if you have moments where you think others are NPCs, treat everybody well because what you do is on you. Think about that psych experiment where people were directed to electrocute an imaginary study-participant: what was done is REAL even though there wasn’t really anybody getting electrocuted.

      Untether Fear From One's Simplicity Shall I fear my eyes? Shall this external existence, create within them the absence of wanting vision. Of simply being a being that sees. Shall I seek nothing due to insecurities. Forever tethered to obscurity. Forever absent. Absent that which one truly permits. Absent what it means to be a being that exist. I wonder, shall I be present? Truly, present? Shall the simplicity of my existence be fully developed. Fully tethered to that which I deem as "Me". A "Me" always able to be. Always able to comprehend. Comprehend not simply oneself, but, all of human as well. And, by existing tethered to such, need not fear. Need not be frightened by that which one deems external. Need not care. Need not seek dependence. Need not seek reliance. Need not attribute one's existence to societal forming. Need only, exploring. Exploring within one's mind. A moment which I deem divine. This moment I shall seek within the simplicity of my time. And, within said time shall create simplicity within the mind. Simplicity tethered to that of multitudes. For, I shall create simplicity within sound, touch, taste. Shall create a forever, reforming base. Shall erase that which one deems a ceiling, and replace the floor, everyday. I shall continously, create. For, within such a state, there is no other me. There exist no other presence. Within such an existence there is but, this. Fear not, this. Fear not this sound. This reason. Fear not this moment. Fear not these words which you've chosen. Fear absolutely, nothing.

That seems predestined 🤷🏽‍♀️ Have you seen the movie “The Watchers”? i saw the movie and then bought the book to compare the differences. @@Steffanesworld imma watch “the Watchers.” I’ll try the movie first, unless you tell me it’s poor-quality. Re: my octopus metaphor: I’ve thought about what we’re discussing before and talked about “maybe we’re all like fingers, unaware that we’re attached to hand. Even so, the fingers and thumb have to work together harmoniously…” but then I thought about in humans, consciousness doesn’t reside in the fingers. It seem to reside in the brain, and could be affected by the gut. But that’s assuming that that we’re taking the view that our Self is definitely tied to our corporeal form, and can’t function without it. I’m not 100% what believe about this, honestly. Some NDEs imply that that there is an iteration of the self that can see its body lying on a surgery table. True ? I dunno. 🤷‍♀️. I switched from analogizing human fingers to octopus tentacle because I read somewhere that those tentacles might have a lot of cellular memory and some degree of built-in autonomy. But, I’m no octopus expert: I just think they are cool.

    You allude to 'the uncarved block' at the end of this talk and I think it might be a bit hyperbolic. It's true the mind can be reprogrammed only to a limit, depending on the person, the methods, the substances involved. But that ideal of the uncarved block is a limit that adults might approach but never reach. We have biological limits on learning, relearning, and habit-forming ability. A new born baby is mostly "uncarved" but even a newborn has been exposed to their mother tongue for over 9 months. And even this newborn might have picked up on emotional patterns from their mother while in the womb. So even a newborn cannot be "uncarved" in the ideal sense. Don't get me wrong tho, the concept of "Pu" can be very useful at all stages of life. I find the limiting nature of biology beautiful, because it is by these limits that we arrive at the identities we hold throughout life.

    In this video, you are ignorant to the information and knowledge of this history. Try studying and you will be able to maybe understand something rather than going on a rant about something you are not knowledgeable about.

    "Bwahahahaha"! This young lady is out of her league! Another laughable clueless person trying to make sense out of the U-25 study. NEWS FLASH: The studies DID advance onto humans! They are still ongoing to this day. Calhoun's little experiment had some very serious flaws! Bottom line: "Humans are NOT mice"! Welcome to the BSC! "Bwahahahaha". . .

    Matt Christman from Chapo Trap House makes a great point about why John Brown was seen as "insane." It's essentially the same viewpoint that Saul D. Alinsky had, particularly about how a majority of Americans view religion; Americans only believe in religion as it pertains to their own self-interest and how it can benefit them. They may believe in a God or a Heaven, but not so much in the altruistic and empathetic messages that religion preaches. John Brown was a unique case where he was so altruistic that he was willing to sacrifice everything, and everyone that was close to him in order for a group of people he saw as just like everybody else to have the same rights as everybody else. In Rules for Radicals, Saul Alinsky uses the example of a man in New York who emptied his bank account and started handing it out to every homeless person he saw, trying to follow the teaching of his favorite Saint. That man was arrested by ostensibly Christian cops, brought before an ostensibly Christian judge, and sent to a psychiatric ward bearing the name of a Christian Saint. To a society that only uses Christianity as a means of control or as a method of perpetuating self-interest, the altruistic actions of a true Christian are seen as the actions of an insane person.

    Muslims "sacrifice" animals to feed others. They don't leave sacrificed animals as offerings. The concept is an act of charity to please God.

    It may backfire roasting someone that leaves a cult. Not everyone that leaves stays out. Making fun of them just might ensure that they wouldn't trust or confide in the person that made fun of them if they are ever tempted to return to the cult.

    Don’t worry. Art and beauty can be masked and lied about, but they will always come through. They are as immutable as the laws of the universe that birthed them. You are right to recognize things for what they are. Petulant children have always allowed avarice to guide them. With any luck, they too will see the truth for what it is, in time. Perhaps then they can even make a valuable contribution. I wouldn’t wait with bated breath for a few decades yet. The rebellion of the coming generations should provide an intriguing dichotomy, but I lament that traction is there for the closed minded to gain a strong foothold. Then again, the lesser of two evils is so often necessary when no good is forthcoming. Each side still has its work cut out for them. Consider this, children must learn to walk eventually. Perhaps a number of people and movements could mature in our time, or if they choose not to, will be replaced with something else entirely, as they grow less relevant to those that are now only babes. For this, I choose the path of hope. Children are always learning.

    Regarding the quote, it depends on how you consume art. Right now, the focus is turned on the self, not in the Jungian way, but the way of veneration of the self. I think art takes many forms, even narcissism, if done well, can be an art in itself. Anything can be made into art, whether we like it... Or not.

    I am not surprised at the misguided and misplaced anger at something that has nothing to do with why they are even upset. I swear for some people, being "mad" and "angry" is a lifestyle choice. It's like they thrive off of it.
